(Daily360.com) Bill Cobbs, star of almost 200 films, passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Film fans may not recognize Cobbs’ name, but they may recognize his face for the sheer number of movies he appeared in. He is best known for his roles in “Night at the Museum,” “the Bodyguard,” and “New Jack City.”
Thomas, Bill’s brother, honored his deceased relative by saying the family is happy to know he has found “peace and eternal rest.” People on social media commented to pay their respects to the fallen actor. One commenter said he was in everything while another person called Cobbs an “extraordinary talent.”
Cobbs has a lengthy filmography as well as TV credits, including comedies, horror films, and dramas. Cobbs is an air force veteran and served eight years as a radar technician. When he was 36 years old, he went to New York with dreams of beginning an acting career. He played his first role in 1974 in the movie “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.” The last role he played was in the 2022 movie “Carolyn.”
Actors also paid tribute to Cobbs in a series of posts on social media. Samuel L. Jackson called Cobbs a “master” and said he learned something new every time he was in the same room as Cobbs. Jackson referred to the beloved actor as a “mesmerizing performer.” Ben Stiller recalled his time working with Cobbs on Night at the Museum and said he enjoyed the experience of working with Cobbs on the set of the film.
Many actors called Cobbs kind, gentle, a king, and a master. His experience and filmography includes the popular horror film “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” in 1998 and the family friendly “Air Bud” from 1997. Cobbs once said in an interview that working on a project is very enjoyable and that it is fulfilling to see the project “come to fruition.”
