Biden Pressured To Do More After Debate Debacle

(Daily360.com) Anthony Scaramucci, former communications director for President Trump’s administration, said President Biden will need to prove that he is capable of serving another four years in the White House to have any chance at winning the 2024 election. Scaramucci said Biden did a sufficient job at an East Hampton fundraiser reading from a teleprompter, but added that it won’t be enough to convince voters he is cognitively capable of serving the role of president.

Democrat loyalists and the Biden campaign have pushed back on remarks about the president’s mental acuity and fitness. They say that despite the poor debate performance, Biden is a strong leader and he will be staying in the race as the Democratic party nominee. Scaramucci insisted that Biden needs to make an effort to prove that he can answer tough questions without reading from a teleprompter.

Scaramucci suggested that Biden holds weekly hour-long press conferences until the election. He also said Biden should appear on 60 minutes and appear on a late night TV show. Scaramucci said Biden should also arrange a meeting with the New York Times to prove to them they were wrong to suggest he should step aside as the nominee for president.

A new poll released following the debate found that 72% of voters do not believe Biden is fit and capable to be the president for another four years. 49% of the same poll respondents think Donald Trump doesn’t have the mental acuity to be president for a second term. 65% of voters said Biden wasn’t fit to serve in a poll conducted on June 9, so that is a 7% swing based largely on the president’s debate performance on June 27.

Even more alarming for the president is that Democratic party respondents increasingly believe that Biden should not be running for a second term. In February, 36% of registered Democrats believed Biden shouldn’t be running. That number has risen to 46% following the president’s poor debate performance.
