(Daily360.com) – Watch out motorists who park in any big city throughout most of the world. You may be the target of the “Tyre Extinguishers” radical green environmental group. This group sets upon parked cars and flattens one or more of the tires in the name of climate activism. They have a website promoting this style of ‘activism’ with complete instructions on how to deflate tires and leave vehicles immobilized. The step by step instruction page concludes by giving the group’s official email to send photos of the damaged vehicles for them to post online. The group is based out of the United Kingdom and claims responsibility for the actions of cells throughout the world. They have an active Twitter account with just under 20,000 followers where they brag about the damage they do and utilize their hashtag #CarShaggers to mock angry motorists.
The group also likes to leave notes on the cars they target that read; “you’ll be angry, but don’t take it personally. It’s not you, it’s your car.” According to their website they primarily seek out SUV’s and larger vehicles because they see no reason for any person to possess a vehicle like that and their goal is to make it “impossible” for anyone to own one. The site also contains a list of SUVs to target along with photos of each. The damage and harassment campaign they’re on seems to be gaining members and momentum as they have been responsible for deflating the tires of approximately 10,000 SUVs to date. In 2022 they bragged about a global coordination that saw them do this to 900 cars in a single night. The Tyre Extinguishers claim to have no central leadership giving orders but instead are a collective group of independent actors. Similar groups have begun to spring up lately such as the The DundeeFlators in Scotland, SUVVersive in Italy and Les Degonfleurs in France.
