Former Trump Aide Critically Injured in DC Shooting

(Daily360.com) – A former Trump official was shot in the head by a deranged gunman in Washington, D.C. on January 30th. Mike Gill, who served as chief operating officer of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission under Trump was shot while sitting in his car waiting for his wife to leave work for the day. Kristina Gill discovered her husband sprawled from his open car door, bleeding from the head and twitching. Witnesses say she began screaming that her husband was shot while seeking help before returning to the scene to clutch his hand.

It seems Mike Gill was part of an 11-hour crime rampage committed by his alleged attacker. The man, whose name has yet to be released, left Gill and an hour later he was reported to have attempted a carjacking. After his unsuccessful carjack attempt the man came upon Alberto Vasquez Jr., 35, whom he shot dead before stealing his vehicle. After escaping in Vasquez’s vehicle the alleged killer and thief abandoned that car and stole another from a ride share network.

He then left the ride share vehicle and stole a Nissan Rogue from University Park. As the day changed, the spree continued, and after two in the morning Maryland State Police officers report shots striking their cruiser from a passing Nissan Rogue. After missing the officers the gunman is alleged to have committed another drive-by shooting attempt at police officers. This time he shot at a D.C. police car, striking its door. Later at around 4:30 a.m. the Rogue was found by police abandoned on a commercial strip in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The suspect is reported to have approached the investigating officers with two guns drawn and was shot dead by police at that time.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser called this spree “unthinkable” but her city has seen carjacking violence double from 2022 to 2023. Mike Gill remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital. His family describes him as a great father, kind-hearted man and friend to most everyone he met.
