(Daily360.com) On June 24, Wildly Beloved Foods announced a recall of 60 packages of their pasta products due to possible mold growth from under-drying. The Clinton, Washington-based food company stated that they discovered mold in two batches of the pasta.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released the details of the recall, saying that the products came in 10-ounce bags, with 30 packages per batch. One was the campanelle (vegan) dried pasta, and the other was the Orzo (vegan) dried pasta.
Each compostable clear bag containing the recalled pasta bore the lot number WBF-SEMPLV-CL-050724-A and the expiration date of May 7, 2025. About 30 bags of campanelle and 30 bags of orzo were produced.
There were no reports of illnesses reported by Wildly Beloved Foods because of the potential contamination of mold, according to the company.
When quality assurance testing of food products uncovers concerns about a potentially harmful substance, the FDA issues a recall. There’s a chance that bacteria of any kind, potentially leading to food poisoning, could infect the products, or a foreign object could have contaminated them during the manufacturing or packaging process.
There have also been instances where the ingredient labeling process overlooked an allergen in a food product. Some of these foods may cause a serious allergic reaction in those who are allergic to them, such as peanuts. In all recalls, the customer has the right to return the recalled product to the store or, in some cases, to the manufacturer, and typically receives a full refund.
The pasta company is a small business with only eight employees. They make their pasta using organic, certified Italian flour (semolina), organic eggs from a local farms, and baby spinach from an organic farm on Whidbey Island, Washington.
Wildly Beloved Foods Marketplace and other retailers, such as Woodinville Farmers Market, The Star Store, Tilth Farmers Market, Redmond Farmers Market, Payless Foods, Everett Farmers Market, and Bayview Farmers Market, sell the recalled products.
