(Daily360.com) – Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is making inflammatory headlines once more. This time, Boebert is fending off allegations about an incident that took place on Saturday, January 6, with her ex-husband Jayson Boebert.
The couple was together at a restaurant called Miner’s Claim in Silt, Colorado, when something happened that involved local police being called to the scene. A group called American Muckrakers posted to their Twitter that Lauren Boebert punched Jayson twice in the face. The Congresswoman denied striking her ex, and said no-one was arrested. She said it was a “sad situation” that wa escalating. Jayson Boebert has since said he has no intention of pressing charges against his former wife. American Muckrakers is a known opponent of Boebert and has lobbied against her when she has run for Congress.
Lauren Boebert also stated that the continuing friction with her former husband is one of the reasons she has decided to run for office in Colorado’s 4th district and leave behind the 3rd district where she currently resides and represents. She said that her husband’s account of what took place at the restaurant is false and she is looking into potential legal action against him for misrepresenting what occurred.
The Boeberts were married in 2005 and have four children together. They filed for divorce in May of 2023 and it was finalized in October. Their divorce filing cited “irreconcilable differences” as the catalyst. Representative Boebert narrowly won re-election in 2022 in the 3rd district and the move to the 4th would give her a larger Republican base to drawn from in 2024. She will likely look to lower her profile after this incident and another that took place in September of last year. Boebert was caught on video being disruptive and removed from a theatre while on a date at the Beetlejuice show in Denver.
Jason Boebert has since been arrested for several charges, including assault.
