(Daily360.com) – A person may wonder what is “CAUdasity”? Kelisa Wing who had held the title of education activity chief diversity equity and inclusion officer at the Department of Defense (DoD) once tweeted; “I’m so exhausted at these white folx in these [professional development] sessions this lady actually had the CAUdacity to say black people can be racist too.” This tweet from 2020 and others drew attention after they resurfaced late last year.
The DoD conducted a review and determined that Wing would be not be fired for these statements but instead “reassigned.” However, it should not be assumed that she is in any way being punished for her hateful rhetoric because Gilbert Cisneros Jr., Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness at Dod said this title change is not about discipline but rather it’s part of a “restructuring.”
Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) of the House Military Personnel Subcommittee wants to claim some sort of victory regardless. She believes this title change is retribution, thanks to her and other Republicans who “shed a light” on the musings of Ms. Wing. She said although her first letter to the DoD was ignored, the second letter did get a response and let her know about the inquiry into the “matter.” The NY Rep. and member of GOP leadership in the House notes that her letter went out six months ago and this subsequent title change came just three hours before a hearing which would have addressed Ms. Wing.
Since Wing assumed her position as chief diversity equity and inclusion officer at DoD there was an increase of 1,250% in books and other reading materials at DoDEA schools. These are the tax-payer-funded schools for the children of DoD employees.
Wing is something of an author as well and her co-authored books are available in 49 DoD school libraries. They include; “What Is White Privilege?” and “What Does It Mean to Defund the Police?”
