(Daily360.com) The investigation into the abduction and death of a Louisiana toddler found evidence of human trafficking.
Daniel Callihan and Victoria Cox were arrested and charged with the murder of four-year-old Erin Brunett, whose body was discovered in Mississippi. Callihan had dated Callie Brunett, Erin’s mother, and is also being charged with her death. After the mother was found dead in her Louisiana home, an amber alert was released to find Erin and her six-year-old sister.
Callihan allegedly kidnapped the two daughters before being detained in Jackson, Mississippi. After arresting him for allegedly murdering Callie Brunett, authorities were able to recover the body of Erin Brunett in the woods near Jackson. The older sister was found alive and taken to the hospital.
Callihan admitted that he committed the murders and said there was no reason for him to do what he did. He said he has multiple personality disorder and doesn’t remember the details of what happens. He said he was sober, but on and off Lexapro. Lexapro is an SSRI that is used to treat disorders of depression and anxiety. Known side effects from the drug include suicidal ideation, confusion, and increased aggression.
The evidence of human trafficking was observed where Erin Brunett’s body was discovered. Authorities say they found cages for small animals, which according to Joseph Wade of the Jackson Police Department, looks like a place that facilitates human trafficking.
The FBI has set up a tip line to gather information about the death of Erin Brunett and also alleged human trafficking. There haven’t been any details provided on Victoria Cox, the alleged accomplice of Callihan who was arrested in a Jackson motel in relation to the crime.
Callihan has yet to be questioned by authorities regarding the murders he confessed to committing. The investigation into the deaths of Erin Brunett, Callie Brunett, and the kidnapping of the two daughters is still ongoing. No date has been set for a court hearing.
