(Daily360.com) – RFK Jr. called for unity as he said everyone that contributed to the political vitriol ultimately caused the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. RFK said it is important for everyone to start seeing each other as Americans rather than political enemies. He offered prayers to Donald Trump and his family following the events at a Pennsylvania rally.
RFK also called for “love, forgiveness, and reconciliation” and said this terrible event can be a catalyst for American unity. RFK was asked about the denial of Secret Service detail for him as a presidential candidate. He said he didn’t want to make this event about himself, but many have acknowledged that both his father and uncle were assassinated as political figures.
On June 15, Donald Trump posted on social media that the Biden administration should provide Secret Security for RFK in the aftermath of what happened at his rally over the weekend. Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas held a press conference in which he announced that RFK would be receiving Secret Service detail.
On the same day both presidential contenders Trump and Kennedy arrived in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention. Speculation ensued after it was reported that the two were meeting and many thought RFK was going to endorse Trump for president or be named as Trump’s running mate. RFK later issued a statement on social media that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss American unity and that he would not be dropping out of the race.
RFK indicated that he would be meeting with leaders of the Democratic party also to discuss the concept of unity during the election campaign. Journalist Tucker Carlson reportedly arranged the meeting between Trump and Kennedy at the RNC convention.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump announced that his running mate would be Senator J.D. Vance from Ohio. Carlson said the reason Vance is the best pick is that he doesn’t secretly hate Trump like the other suggested candidates.
