(Daily360.com) A Lakeville, Minnesota man has been charged with murder after brutally killing his pregnant sister.
Jack Joseph Ball is facing two charges of second degree murder for the death of his sister Bethany Israel and her unborn baby. Police went to Israel’s property after family members were concerned they had not heard from her or seen her. The police found Israel’s body dismembered within the house.
The officers saw Ball fleeing the scene and covered in blood. They were able to take him into custody. During their search of the premises, officers found a journal in which Ball said his sister was “no longer innocent” as a result of her being pregnant. Ball was reportedly angry that Israel was pregnant.
The officers said there was a significant amount of blood puddled on the kitchen floor, on the cabinets, and under the sink. Officers found a saw, hatchet, and big knives soaked in blood. During their search, body parts were found strewn about the property that they believe are Israel’s body parts.
When officers found Ball, he had blood all over himself and his clothing. He also had a self-inflicted knife wound across his neck. Officers checked to see if he was cognitively aware of what was happening, and Ball was able to correctly identify the president of the United States. He was taken to a hospital and later taken to jail. His bail has been set at $2 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions.
The neighbor said she heard female screams followed by shouting and a car driving away quickly. Kathy Keena, a county attorney, said the description of the crime is “horrific” and promised that her office will do everything they can to bring justice for the victim and the victim’s family.
A GoFundMe donation page has been set up to provide funeral expenses and funds for Israel’s husband. The page has collected $34,000 as of May 30.
