Child Star Benji Gregory Found Dead in Car Aged 46

(Daily360.com) – Benji Gregory, a famous child actor, was found dead inside his car at the age of 46. Gregory is best known for his role as Brian Tanner in ALF, which was on air from 1986-1990. That was his last acting role and he later enlisted in the Navy in 2003. He was honorably discharged for medical reasons in 2005.

Gregory was found in his car in a Chase parking lot in Peoria, Arizona, as temperatures were exceeding 100 degrees outside. No cause of death has been reported or determined yet, but his family believes he died from heatstroke. Gregory dealt with multiple medical issues, including depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder. His family thinks that he fell asleep in the car in the extreme Arizona heat, which ultimately caused his death and the death of his service dog.

The death occurred last month on June 12 and residual checks were found inside of Gregory’s car. The family speculates that he never exited the car to cash the checks before falling asleep and passing away from heatstroke. Gregory’s dad, uncle, and sister were all actors and he began auditioning for roles when he was five years old.

He appeared in several TV shows, including “T.J. Hooker,” “Amazing Stories” and “The Twilight Zone.” He also played a role in the 1986 Whoopi Goldberg comedy “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” which was named after a 60’s hit song by the Rolling Stones.

ALF” was Gregory’s most well-known role and the TV show received awards during the four seasons it was aired. The show was named best TV comedy at the People’s Choice Awards in 1987. It was also awarded as the favorite show of the 1988 Kids Choice Awards. Gregory received nominations for the Young Artist Awards for his role on the program.

“ALF” is an acronym that stands for alien life form and ALF was the main character of the program along with the Tanner family.
