France Seeking to Enter War Directly, Declares Readiness

(Daily360.com) France President Emmanuel Macron has made statements that indicate they may directly enter the Ukraine Russia war.

Dmitry Peskov, Vladamir Putin’s Press Secretary, said France expresses complete support to Ukraine and they have declared they are ready to enter the war directly. This comes after President Macron announced a program to train Ukrainian pilots. He also said Western countries should be ready to send military personnel to help Ukraine in the conflict.

Peskov said that the Kremlin views the statements and actions of Macron as escalatory. He also said there is nothing positive that will come from these actions by France and NATO allies.

President Joe Biden and President Macron reached an agreement that would provide even more support for Ukraine. The deal aims to use funds from frozen Russian assets to provide Ukraine with a large loan, and it would also attempt to secure aid for Ukraine for 2025 should the conflict continue.

European Parliament elections have seen an increase in right-wing anti-establishment candidates. These candidates are supported by voters that are against the support of Ukraine in the conflict. Despite that, European Parliament President Metsola said the “pro-European center” has maintained power following the elections.

President Biden is heading to the G7 summit that will convene from June 13-15 where world leaders will discuss the ongoing conflicts in the middle east and Ukraine. Biden is poised to ask the leaders to use the profits from frozen Russian assets to provide funds for Ukraine. Another key point of relevance for the meeting is that China has been supporting Russia in the Ukraine war.

John Kirby, a U.S. spokesperson, said they intend to add new sanctions for Russia to increase costs for the “Russian war machine.” They will increase the sanctions on semiconductor chips and attempt to target China third-party sellers in the process. The U.S. intends to put additional export controls on U.S. “branded goods” that are sold from Hong Kong to Russia.
