Musk Defends Trump over “Bloodbath” comments.

(Daily360.com) The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, is not someone who would ever be described as a Trump surrogate but the latest media “hoax” had him tweeting on Trump’s behalf. Musk was responding to the media’s false portrayal of Trump using the word “bloodbath” during a recent rally speech in Ohio. Trump was speaking about China’s current involvement in the auto industry and its partnership with Mexico. Trump said that if he were not elected and this union continues to take over larger parts of the business, it would be a “bloodbath” for the American auto industry.

Seemingly within minutes several members of the media began to portray Trump’s comment out of context. They attempted to frame Trump as saying that if he’s not elected then the country would be headed for strife and fighting. Many tried to draw some sort of link from this statement to the riot that took place at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. A Twitter account called “Biden-Harris HQ” was among the accounts spreading this narrative; it posted a memo from the Biden/Harris campaign framing Trump’s use of the word as a racist attack on Americans.

MSNBC host, Joe Scarborough, tweeted video of January 6th with the caption: “Donald Trump’s America. And he is proud of it. Promised another ‘bloodbath’ if he loses again.” Musk responded directly to this tweet, calling it extremely misleading, pointing out that Trump was specifically talking about issues that would occur within the auto industry. Musk also said the January 6th riot be considered a bloodbath. Scarborough deleted his tweet shortly after Musk’s reply. Musk sent similar tweets to other members of the media, using the power of his large following on the platform that he owns to debunk the attempted false narrative.

Musk re-tweeted and replied to accounts that were showing the full-context Trump clip side by side with the inaccurate media spin. The Space X boss also made clever use of a meme to demonstrate the false narrative being created. The meme featured a drawing of a crowd of “NPC’s” saying “bloodbath” in unison. An NPC is short for non-playable characters, which are video game characters that are present during game play but serve a limited function; they repeat simple lines and cannot evolve past that level in the game.
