(Daily360.com) – Father Dan Reehil is a priest who resides in Nashville, Tennessee, and has received exorcism training from the Catholic Church. Reehil received his training in Rome, at the Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum, in 2018, and says people have forgotten there’s more to the world than what we can see. Reehil says spirits, angels, demons and souls exist and can have an effect on our lives whether we know it or not.
An exorcist, according to Reehil, is a priest chosen by a bishop and put into the office of delivery ministry. When needed he will be called upon to perform specific exorcism prayers in order to fight the evil powers of the devil. Reehil says there are two kinds of exorcisms, “minor” and “major”. Minor exorcisms are typically associated with receiving blessings and the sacraments and can ward of low levels of evil in a person’s surroundings. Major exorcisms are the kind movies have dramatized for years. They require a bishop or a trained priest to help a person who is “demonstrable possessed” by a spirit or demon and may only be performed with specific permission.
People who study demons otherwise known as demonologists categorize demons in three levels; obsession/oppression, temptation and possession. Obsession/oppression demonic possession would include people being mildly tormented and made to feel spiritual, mental or emotional anguish. Temptation is what most everyone experiences at one point or another, the desire to have or do something that they probably best not do. Possession is the most serious and features a demon in full, uninterrupted control of a person.
Reehil warns that the Ouija board may look like and be sold as a child’s game but it can open people up to demonic activity. He said demons will lie and impersonate dead loved ones as a means to “embed” itself in a person’s life. The Ouija board has been around since at least the 19th century when it was known as a “talking board” and was used in séances and similar activities.
