Biden Stands By Growing Easter Backlash

(Daily360.com) The Easter holiday was sent in a bizarre direction after Joe Biden released an official declaration that March 31 was officially “Trans Visibility Day.” The proclamation read that “all Americans” should support trans people, lift them up, and focus on eliminating any discrimination that trans people feel they are facing.

The reaction throughout social media was quick and mostly not supportive. Many users wondered why Biden would choose to do such a thing and overshadow the highest holiday on the Christian calendar. Supporters of Biden retaliated by saying the Trans Day of Visibility has existed for 15 years and it is not replacing Easter.

Most responded to this defense by saying it was Biden, who claims to be a “devout Catholic,” who made an official proclamation on the year this new “holiday” fell on the same date as Easter. They also pointed out that Biden made trans-positive statements on Good Friday as well when he said that trans people “are made in the image of God.” Actor Dean Cain responded by tweeting that if that’s the case then why would they need “all the surgeries and hormones?”

Biden drew more critique when it was reported that the White House banned any religious imagery on eggs or art for the annual White House contest. These directives left many confused as to why they’d recognize a specifically religious holiday but ban religious imagery.

Other prominent Democrats followed Biden’s lead as California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife put out a video pledging their solidarity and support of trans individuals. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer put out a video declaring herself an ally and saying she “has the back” of trans people. New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul declared her fealty and ordered many New York State landmarks be lit up with “trans flag colors.”

Oddly, on the day after Easter Sunday when Biden was asked about criticism his declaration received from Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, he denied doing it. He told the press “I didn’t do that” and went so far as to say that Johnson is “thoroughly uninformed.”
