Nancy Pelosi Faces Subpoena In Criminal Investigation

(Daily360.com) – Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been subpoenaed regarding a California criminal case taking place in the state’s Northern District. It has not been made public what the case is or what the merits of Pelosi’s testimony might be. Speculation is that it may be related to her husband Paul Pelosi.

In June of 2022, Paul Pelosi, was involved in a serious car accident. He was driving his Porsche while intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) and sentenced to serve five days in jail. The car was damaged beyond repair as was later auctioned.

Nancy Pelosi, had her official statement read on the House floor by reading clerk, Tylease Alli. The statement indicated the speaker emerita would comply with the subpoena. The statement acknowledged the legitimacy of the third party subpoena request and make clear she will be compliant with producing documents related to the “criminal case.”

The statement went on to confirm Pelosi was advised by the office of general council and both determined her compliance would be “consistent with the privileges and rights of the house.” The statement concluded by specifying Pelosi would be compliant regarding “non-privileged” information and ended with her signature.

When asked for comment by Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News, Pelosi’s office replied that they will not offer any comment on legal matters. Nancy Pelosi has not made any comments about this matter other than the statement read by Alli.

Paul Pelosi had a rather tumultuous 2022, after the car crash he was involved in a bizarre incident captured by police body cameras. The October 2022 incident involved a half dressed Pelosi being assaulted by a man with a hammer before police could charge at and restrain the intruder. The alleged assailant, David DePape is scheduled to have his trial this month in San Francisco.
