Big Banks Working With Feds To Spy On Pro-Gun And Religious Trump Supporters

(Daily360.com) More than a dozen large banks colluded with the federal government to surveil transactions of hundreds of Trump supporters without a warrant following January 6, 2021. The government under President Biden used a metric of “extremism indicators” to determine which citizens should be surveilled. These indicators include the purchase of religious books, including the bible, and internet queries that include the words “MAGA” or “Trump.”

Congressional Republicans are investigating the big banks and their involvement with the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the FBI. Congressman Jim Jordan is heading the investigation. In his letter to the banks in question, Jordan said the Select Subcommittee has grievances with the violation of American’s privacy through the surveillance of “backdoor information.” Representative Jordan wrote a letter with the same sentiment to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

The FBI obtained information on over 200 people from Bank of America related to “suspicious activity” 11 days after the events at the capitol on January 6, 2021. The information was provided to the FBI after they requested banks browse through the purchases of bank customers for keywords that indicate support for President Trump. There were certain “thresholds” that would trigger a certain customer’s data to be sent over to the FBI, which happened to 211 customers in the January, 2021 report.

That is not the only recent example of Bank of America colluding with the FBI. In May, 2023, three whistleblowers exposed the collusion between the bank and the FBI to spy on Americans who spoke out at school board meetings.

The House Judiciary Committee was investigating Bank of America for the surveillance of American bank accounts, but it has now expanded the investigation to include other large banks. These banks include Citibank, Chase, PayPal, Wells Fargo and Western Union among others.

The investigation by the Weaponization of the Federal Government subcommittee will continue. The next scheduled hearing for the subcommittee will involve two individuals from the Biden administration testifying on censorship of American discourse.
