2nd Mass Stabbing In Sydney In Less Than A Week, Church Worshipers and Bishop Attacked

(Daily360.com) Sydney, Australia was the site of a second mass stabbing event in less than a week. Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was stabbed while he was preaching at Christ The Good Shepherd Church on Monday evening shortly after 7 PM. The incident has been identified as a terrorist attack. The suspect is a 16-year old boy and police say the attack was planned.

The Bishop is famous on TikTok and was livestreaming at the time of the attack. Members of the congregation immediately attempted to stop the attacker while screams could be heard. Bishop Emmanuel has talked negatively about the religion of Islam and the prophet Muhammad.

The boy could be heard speaking in Arabic after the attack. When translated to English, the boy said he would not have come to the church if the Bishop hadn’t spoken about Islam and the prophet Muhammad. The alleged attacker, Bishop Emmanuel, and a priest in the church all sustained injuries that required them to get surgery. Four people were injured and transported to the hospital. There have been no fatalities from this incident and nobody else was injured.

According to a witness on the scene, Bishop Emmanuel placed his hand on the attacker. Emmanuel said “May the Lord Jesus Christ save you.” In the aftermath of the attack that was also livestreamed on YouTube, as many as 2,000 people protested outside the church. They threw bottles and bricks while yelling for retribution of the alleged attacker with phrases like “an eye for an eye.”

The protest continued as police officers attempted to quell the rage and protesters broke car windows. The livestreamed video showed a ladder breaking a church window. Police tried to hold back the protesters, but multiple times individuals ran past the barrier towards the church. The police used tear gas to hold back the protesters. One innocent bystander that arrived on the scene said she had been hit in the back of the head with a log.
