Biden’s Private Meeting with Families of Captive Americans

(Daily360.com) – Joe Biden spoke with the American families of Hamas-held hostages during a low-profile White House meeting. The families have had no contact with Biden since the day after the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel. They had been requesting an invitation to the White House’s Hanukkah celebration earlier in the week but none were granted access.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken hastily put together this week’s meeting. Biden’s principal deputy national security adviser, Jon Finer, met with the families prior to Biden’s arrival. Once Biden arrived he’s reported to have met with the families for about an hour. Biden initially met with the families in the Diplomatic Room but then segued into his private office, the Cabinet Room and the Oval Office.

Biden took photos with the families as they urged him to please take action and get their family member’s back into the United States. One woman, Liz Naftali, gave Biden a photo of her 4-year-old great-niece and hoped that the president would draw inspiration from the photo and get her back. Naftali has some deep ties to the Democrat party. She is a large donor to the party, has been appointed to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, and even purchased some of Hunter Biden’s art work. It was rumored she received the commission appointment specifically for buying the artwork, but that’s been denied and it’s been put forward that she was appointed by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi for other reasons.

The meeting was kept private with the press only finding out after it had concluded. In post-meeting statements to their online accounts and elsewhere the family members did their best to be optimistic. They said they believe Biden will come through and get their family members out of Gaza. At the present time, Biden official’s main priority is achieving a cease fire in the war and they are holding active negotiations to that end in Qatar.
